The Solon Soccer Club (SSC) was founded in 1986. The club is a non-profit competitive boys travel soccer club.
The mission of the club is to develop both the skills and the sportsmanship of our players. The club provides players with the opportunity to experience high level training and competitive soccer, while at the same time achieving the benefits of long term team and community relationships. SSC is the primary feeder program for the Solon High School Boys Soccer Team. We attempt to teach a style of play, both tactical and technical, that will allow for a smooth and immediate transition to the high school program.
Our goal is not to develop strong teams, but rather to develop each and every player and get them ready (technically, tactically and emotionally) for the next level of their own soccer development.
This is not recreational soccer. It is more competitive and all players do not get equal playing time. Playing time is determined by a player's performance, attendance at training and attitude. Better players will play more. There is also no guarantee of continued membership in the club. Club selection is competitive and established at tryouts each Spring. Every player goes through tryouts each year.
SSC coaches are volunteer parents and are responsible for coaching games. All SSC training sessions are run by licensed training coaches. SSC team coaches are encouraged to participate in the training sessions. Each SSC parent coach has taken 12 hours of classes in coaching youth soccer. Some of the coaches are also certified soccer referees. The coaches have also submitted to and passed the "KidSafe" background check program run by the State of Ohio.
SSC is a ten (10) month commitment. Our year starts in mid-August with a two week pre-season camp and ends in early June with final spring league games. SSC players will train on average 100 hours and plays in approximately 40 games and two tournaments during the year.
