Dear SSC families,

I am excited to announce that SSC will be partnering with the Shaker Youth Soccer Association in Fall 2017 to form a premier tournament only soccer team option for boys’ levels U10-U13.  Below is information about the new program. If you have any questions, please contact Jon Mester at jmester@nphm.com or 216-470-2861.

Why offer the premier tournament option?  The program affiliation will allow for the complete coordination of schedules and events so that our players will enjoy the full benefits of our community club and be able to play in premier tournaments as desired.  This is a unique aspect of our program versus joining an independent premier club that is not formally affiliated with a community club.  It also allows our players to interact with other teams within the broader soccer community.

Who is eligible and do I need to participate?  All boy players in good standing entering the U10-U13 groups are eligible.  This is an optional team being offered in addition to your regular travel program.

What is the time commitment?  Your player will practice two times per week with their SSC travel team and one time per week with their premier tournament team for the four weeks prior to the tournament.  Since your club is organizing both teams, both practices and games will be coordinated from a conflict standpoint.  The tournament date and time will be determined at the team level.

Why Shaker?  Shaker is a perfect partner as both clubs share a common youth development philosophy around soccer skills, player engagement and enjoyment of the game in order to create great soccer players and athletes for life.  The two clubs are similar in size and each club fields two very competitive teams at each age group at a similarly performing level of play.

How do I sign up?  The team coaches will query for interest and the club coaching staff will determine the best format to select players for each individual team.

What about other age levels?  We are starting at U10 as we philosophically believe player development is efficacious within our current structure at the U8 and U9 level with appropriate practice/game ratio for their age group.  In addition to regular team practice, our club offers many opportunities through supplemental pro coaching clinics to develop the individual fundamental mechanics which are so important in the younger years.

Who will Coach?  Each team will be coached by a professional USSF D License or higher coach.

What are the costs?  The cost will be about $160 per tournament [includes tournament registration, pro coach fee including travel, and new uniform].
