About Solon Strikers
The Solon Strikers Soccer Club was founded in 1986. The club is a non-profit travel soccer club.
The mission of the club is to develop the skills and sportsmanship of the players. The club provides players with the opportunity to experience competitive soccer, while at the same time achieving the benefits of long term team relationships.
We view ourselves as the primary feeder program in Solon
transitioning to high school play. We attempt to teach a style
of play, both tactical and technical, that will allow for a
smooth and immediate transition to the high school program.
The goal is to develop STRONG TEAMS - not just a few strong players.
This is not recreational soccer. It is more competitive and all players do not get equal playing time - better players earn more playing time.
There is no guarantee of continued membership on a team. Team
selection is competitive and established at tryouts each Spring.
Every player goes through tryouts each year.
Our team volunteer coaches are responsible for coaching games
and assisting in practices. They have all taken training classes
in coaching youth soccer. Some of the coaches are certified
soccer referees. The coaches have submitted to the "KidSafe"
background check program run by the State of Ohio.
Our typical year starts off with the "551" training program over the summer that each player participates in.
That is followed by boot camp, where we as a club prepare for the year by doing drills and scrimmages. We then have our
Fall outdoor session from late August to October. Next, we move indoors for Futsal, with practices held in one of the school gyms.
Games are in two sessions and go from November to March. Then it is back outside for Spring session From April to the beginning of June.
Teams try to participate in tournaments throughout the year, depending on player availability and tournament schedules.
